Practice Sorcerer

How to Add Practice Sorcerer as an App on Your Device

Getting Started Help

Want Practice Sorcerer to sit alongside the other apps on your device? You can add the website to your Home Screen or computer, then tap or click its icon whenever it's time to practise.

This uses your browser's Add to Home Screen or Install as app feature. You don't need an App Store or Google Play download for these steps: you're saving the Practice Sorcerer website so you can open it like an app.

Before you start

Open Practice Sorcerer in the browser listed for your device below. Sign in and go to your dashboard before adding it, so you're starting from your practice space rather than this help article.

Menu names can vary slightly with your device and browser version.

iPhone and iPad: add to your Home Screen with Safari

  1. Open Safari and visit Practice Sorcerer.
  2. Tap the Share button — the square with an arrow pointing up. Depending on your Safari layout, you may need to tap the More (…) button first, then Share.
3. Scroll down the sharing options and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Keep or enter Practice Sorcerer as the name. If you see Open as Web App, switch it on.
  5. Tap Add.

You'll now see a Practice Sorcerer icon on your Home Screen. Tap it to open your practice space like an app.

Can't find Add to Home Screen? Scroll to the bottom of the sharing options, tap Edit Actions, and add it to the list. Make sure you've opened the website in Safari itself if you followed a link from another app. See Apple's Home Screen instructions for more detail.

Android: add to your Home Screen with Chrome

  1. Open Google Chrome and visit Practice Sorcerer.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) beside the address bar.
  3. Select Install and create shortcut, then Install. Depending on your Chrome version, you may see Add to Home screen or Install app instead.
  4. Follow the prompts to confirm the installation and add the icon.
  5. Open Practice Sorcerer from your Home Screen or app drawer. If it only appears in your app drawer, touch and hold the icon to move it onto your Home Screen.

If Chrome offers Create shortcut instead, you can use that and tap Add for quick access. A shortcut with a small Chrome badge opens in the browser; choose Install when available for the separate app experience. Google's guides explain installing web apps and creating Home Screen shortcuts.

Mac: add to your Dock with Safari

On macOS Sonoma 14 or later, Safari can save Practice Sorcerer as a web app in your Dock.

  1. Open Safari and visit Practice Sorcerer.
  2. In the menu bar at the top of your screen, choose File → Add to Dock. You can also use Safari's Share button and choose Add to Dock.
  3. Enter Practice Sorcerer as the name, then click Add.
  4. Click the new Practice Sorcerer icon in your Dock to open it in its own window.

You can also find it using Spotlight. See Apple's guide to Safari web apps for more details.

Using Chrome on your Mac, or don't have Add to Dock? If your Mac supports a current version of Chrome, follow the Chrome instructions below.

Windows: install with Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Microsoft Edge and visit Practice Sorcerer.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (…) in the top-right corner.
  3. Choose More tools → Apps → Install this site as an app. In some versions, Apps appears directly in the three-dot menu. If an install icon appears in the address bar, you can use that instead.
  4. Confirm the name Practice Sorcerer and click Install.
  5. Choose Pin to taskbar, Pin to Start or Create Desktop shortcut if prompted, so it's easy to find next time.

To add these shortcuts later, enter edge://apps in Edge's address bar, find Practice Sorcerer and select Details. Open it from your chosen shortcut to use it in a separate window. See Microsoft's guide to installing and managing web apps.

Using Google Chrome on Windows or Mac

  1. Open Chrome and visit Practice Sorcerer.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
  3. Choose Cast, save, and share → Install page as app…. If you see an install icon in the address bar, you can click that instead.
  4. Confirm the name and click Install.

Practice Sorcerer will open in its own window. For quick access, right-click its running icon on Windows and choose Pin to taskbar, or Control-click its Dock icon on Mac and choose Options → Keep in Dock. See Google's desktop web app guide.

Your first practice session

Open Practice Sorcerer using your new icon. You may need to sign in again — use your existing account to access your profile and saved progress.

When you start an activity that listens to your instrument, allow microphone access if asked. The saved app may ask for permission even if you've already allowed it in your browser.

Keep your device connected to the internet so Practice Sorcerer can load your activities and save your progress. Adding an icon doesn't make it an offline app.

Place the icon somewhere easy to spot, and your next Warmup Quest is just a tap away.
